In the future, using the priority of care and community, districts undergoing declining enrollment might keep their school sopen and rent space to organizations capatible with education.  Once such a decision is made, all sorts of creative opportunities arise.  Cooperative deals might be made with child care groups, art and music studios, even veterinary hospitals and florist shops (Noddings, 2005b, p. 67).

School and Community Relations

School and community relationships are strong and provide opportunities of caring that can not be experienced in the classroom.  Cooperative relationships between commercial and non-profit organizations are formed.  Students learn from others while practicing different modes of care:  care of others, care of environment, care of ideas, etc.  A curriculum of care is not complete without these interactions.  Students give back to the community, while taking away experiences of care and knowledge.   Because The Noddings Center is located in an urban commercial area, these interactions are not only available, but mutually valuable.

"Interpersonal reasoning is necessary in caring that involves associates and members of the community as well as intimate others" (Noddings, 2005b, p. 53).
